My Week In Review: December 23 2019

Wednesday was the Cub Scouts xmas party and the kids all had a blast. Pete the Scout troop leader came in as Santa and gave each of the kids their pine wood derby car with the laser engraving. We have 2 kits so we will practice on a car for me and then we we will do the real work on his car to make it as good as possible. I have a few tricks for making the car go as fast as physically possible... I ended up coming home with a bag full of caramel corn balls from our pack leader.

Friday was @stryeyz xmas party at work. Every year has been a bit of a cluster and a bit of a drunken mess. This year ended up far different and the party went much better than prior years. They have always done a gift exchange that would take HOURS to finish so this year they streamlined the process and it was over in about half an hour. Soooooo much better. It was amusing for a while with the old way but it is just better to get it over with.

Saturday we went to town and I picked up grain again. Three barrels which should be the only ones this week. I dropped @stryeyz off at her work where we left my car the prior night and she did a few things in her office before running errands. I prepped a few things for Sunday and skiing at 49N and helped the boys build yhe pteranadon model fron Harbor Freight.

Sunday morning I left about 8 am and got to the mountain about 8:50. There was only 5 cars in the lot when I parked. Art was late so I got geared up and went for my first runs of the season. I kept it mellow and super casual. The snow was SHIT to begin with and had a hard thick crust on top that broke through to soft below. I made runs down some mellow long runs and just kind of tested the setup and my body. I was keen to see how my shoulder would handle the forces and the movement, which it performed amazingly, though I was conscious of it and being careful.

The snow got better as it got warmer. After an hour I hit my car for a beer to lube the legs and my mind. I got a couple more runs in before Art showed up. We hung out at the cars then hit the lift. We made the run down the hill and both of us were done. The snow is still super thin, heavy, and there are shit tons of stick obstacles sticking up everywhere. I called it good and was home by the time the Seahawks game started at 1pm.

Monday I finally got my rectal cranial inversion rectified and set about installing the Mighty Mule Gate Opener. It involved a large number of trips between the gate and the tool shed which accounts for the number of steps.

Today I finished the gate install. I dug a trench for the vehicle sensor that is on order and will arrive Friday. The gate is my super big accomplishment for the month and has made me pretty damned happy. 10 years in the making to finally get the gate and install it.

Xmas tomorrow and we have no snow on the farm. I will do a fire outside for the day/evening and the kids will play.
