Entry Looking back / Look forward 2.14.

Not frequently I look back to my life as a baby, child or teenager.

The reason for it is I never been any of them.
I was not the so longed for baby, not the beloved toddler, the funny child or the helpful teenager. No matter how hard I tried, the whip, dog chain, high heels, holdings, punishments and pans of hot food thrown over me were a daily fact.

At home, it was all god's will. As a child, I had to respect my parents, do my prayers, always had to smile no matter how many bruises I had and do as if nothing had happened.

Dinner we had together at the table.
We are with fork and knife and had a three-course menu. Children were not allowed to speak. You had to finish your whole plate. It was not allowed to drink during the meal. You had to sit straight up and the biggest part of the meat and most of the food was (if we stayed with one of my grandmothers) for the man. In this case my father or uncle. After everyone finished his/her meal it was time to read a part out of the Bible.
At first, only the adults did, as the children grew older they had to read a part out of the Bible too.

I always read the same two parts (Luke 6:43 No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. and Matthew 7:3-5 'Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.')/but it never rang a bell with my parents or my grandmother. To be honest I doubt they listened at all. It was a ritual that stopped as?

My grandmother (she is the Merry I wrote about in my "Once upon... A lifestyle) and my mother the Queenie in another tale both were violent, scolded, cursed and swore.

God did not come to my aid. Neither did the rest of the family, the neighbors, teachers or all those (the whole village) who knew about it.

I grew up in a time girls wear dresses or skirts only. Hats, gloves, scarfs were custom. At school it was not allowed to read comics, to run, shout, scold. You stayed outside in line till the moment you were allowed to enter the school.

I was in a class with over 45 children and one teacher. We all learned how to read and write well. If you did your best the school gave you a pencil, next to a fountain pen.

Teachers hit pupils.
The principal slammed me through the classroom because I stood too close to his desk as I gave him my paper. Once we had a friendly teacher. He was new. Master Boom. He was gone after the Summer holidays.

If you did something wrong (spoke for example) the teachers let you write 500 or 1000 times I am not allowed to speak.
Another punishment was to learn the dictionary by the head.

My parents never went on vacation with their children but together. They dumped them with family. Grandparents, aunts. For the dogs, they made a reservation at a pension.

On Sunday's we had to wake up early to clean the house but we're not allowed to do anything. No visitors, going out, shops were closed. The first day of the week was the most boring day of my life. I was allowed to sit up straight, read from the Bible and eat food I could not digest.

After the house was cleaned my parents went to church and us kids were sent to the Sunday school. It was less boring as a church, way better as staying home and I liked the handicraft.

Once in a while, my grandfather came to visit us. Mainly if my parents were fighting. Money solves a lot. He was the only one who could handle his not very beloved daughter. I wrote about him in my second 'Once upon... a lifetale.

I lived in an isolated world. The radio never played. Visitors were uncles and aunties, you had to sit straight up for hours without a word, you did not use someone else's toilet or peed outside. There was less garbage and the dogs let themselves out.

It was a life without radio, black and white television for only a few hours a day, the milkman and baker and knife-grinder came to your place for free. Online shopping and delivery costs did not exist.

Milk was in glass bottles, the expired date did not exist neither did color t.v.'s, video, I'd, DVD, microwave, computer, smartphones, fax for everyone, a buzzer, etc, etc.

Parties were celebrated with the whole family no matter if they liked each other. There was plenty of food and all kinds of (alcoholic) drinks.

Only a few were overweighted.

What hurt me most in these days were the preaches from the Bible by hypocrites who do not love their loved ones. It is untrue that if you knock on a door it will be opened.

An eyeopener was as the housekeeper told me it was not okay what my parents said and did (Ephesians 6:4 parents, do not provoke your children to anger).

My parents thought and still believe they are untouchable.

Life is different now.
Computer, smartphone, 24/24 television broadcasting rules our lives.

We reached and live in the age of AI.

The film "AI" lights you up and so does "real human".

Your medical history can be found online, just like all your bank and tax info. Although many have debts banks try to promote taking loans.

We use pedometers to count steps, an echo during pregnancies and contact each other using WhatsApp.

In elderly homes, the use of robot cats is a fact. Easy to keep animals.

Our human company will come soon. Hopefully they are not the same as the ones in the series " Real human". If AI takes over your brain the world will not be a better place.
