Hey my fellow SportsTalkers!

In today's post I'd like to talk about the upcoming UFC 240 event headlined by the current featherweight champion Max "Blessed" Holloway and the former lightweight champion Frankie "The Answer" Edgar.

This fight was booked once before for UFC 222 with Max pulling out due to an injury and Frankie later faced Brian Ortega to save the event. It didn't go all that well for Frankie as he lost the fight in brutal fashion being knocked out for the very first time in his career. Of course, he lost his spot as a title challenger and had to take a new fight afterward to rebound back into the picture. It was a seatback especially for him who's quite frankly coming to an end of a great career but still demands that one last crack at becoming a champion once again. I can respect that.

πŸ‘‰ UFC 222 - Edgar VS Ortega

The adversity these fighters have to face in this sport is crazy, Max who was slowly closing up on that number 1 poun4pound spot with a ridiculous 13 fight winning streak beating pretty much everybody in the featherweight division after Conor Mcgregor left the picture. Jose Aldo twice, Anthony Pettis, Brian Ortega, and the list goes on and on. Even almost ended up in a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov which also didn't materialize with Max not making weight in a last-minute call. My point here is that Max is a great fighter if not the very best featherweight ever. It was no surprise and just a matter of time before he goes after the lightweight division.

πŸ‘‰ UFC 236 - Holloway VS Porier 2

Facing Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight belt, if you're new to MMA than let me remind you Max lost their first fight back in the day when both barely joined the UFC, it was a while ago. Plus taking in count how much they both improved since then makes this a totally different fight, not to mention in a new weight class now. Most people expected Max to dominate Dustin and boy were they wrong, including me. Dustin brings so much power at lightweight and Max couldn't handle it, losing a unanimous decision in a brawl of a fight.

How I see the fight between Max & Frankie going?

I feel like it's going to be a fun fight to watch but when a breakdown these two I see Max winning with ease if he's mentally back from that loss to Dustin that is. He's so much bigger than Frankie and the reach will play a major factor, shutting down Frankie's takedown attempts won't be super hard in my opinion. I don't see Frankie winning this one, I won't lie he has some heavy hands and can definitely surprise with a "lucky" punch but Max gets the job done 9 times out of 10. I'm curious tho what kind of gameplan will both camps take, this could go for 5 rounds with both guys being so tough. My money is on Max Holloway via unanimous decision.

What do Yall think?
