For this post I am sharing a few shots of the Two main Statues by the Rockefeller Center, Starting with a Mono shot for Monochrome Monday hosted by @old-guy-photos

This scultpure is by Lee Lawrie and was created in 1937,
Atlas is a bronze statue in front of Rockefeller Center standing 45 Feet tall across Fifth Avenue from St. Patrick's Cathedral. The sculpture depicts the Ancient Greek Titan Atlas holding the heavens

Another well known piece at the Rockefeller Centre is Prometheus

Prometheus is most likely the best-known sculpture in Rockefeller Center and the most photographed sculpture in all of NYC. Created by American sculptor Paul Manship, who held a great fascination for mythological subjects and events, it has become the main attraction of the Lower Plaza. overlooking the ice skating rink when it is open

This statue stands at 18 Feet tall and as you can see sits on a small water feature with a fountain as a backdrop.

Nice photos! That one at the beginning is awesome. I remember seeing that statue on the other side of the street, but I am not sure I got any pictures of it. The first year we went to NYC I had my old film camera, so I have a ton of prints that I need to dig through at some point and digitize.

I think Atlas is my favorite statue in the city I must admit

One day you will have to go through your prints i lost all mine on a move a while back

I used to move a lot back then from country to country and sadly it was common for a box or two to go missing with a shipment such is life

I like Atlas who is carrying the world on his shoulders - sometimes I feel like him, just a smaller version of the world and not so strong ;)

Yes, I have read it, and the witnesses have made a softfork to version 0.22.2. I wonder what will come next 🙂

A !BEER has to be cold and a !COFFEEA has to be hot to taste good and not !DERANGED 😉
