The legendary ninja returns

I remember that there was a fever in the 80s with the ninjas, even to the point of resulting in mutations, such as the iconic Ninja Turtles. And among all that there was, one of the titles that stood out was that SEGA Shinobi in 1987.

The history of this 1987 classic, for those who don't know it or don't remember it, led us to face the evil union known as ZEED, which had kidnapped the children of the Oboro clan. Therefore, in all the missions of the game, except duels against the bosses, it was mandatory to rescue the kids in order to unlock the access door to the next phase. Interestingly, all the children looked the same, although the number of them varied by level.

Shinobi was a game that demanded a higher than average ability by not having the same versatility of actions as others of his time, such as Ninja Spirit. Each phase had to be studied, especially from the moment when enemy ninjas could appear from nowhere within a span of distance. Trial and error to throw more coins in the recreational ... And fine-tuning the aim with the shurikens to the fullest, knowing also in which parts it was ideal to use the powerful magic.

Luckily, the children to rescue did not give us many detours, being a fairly direct side scroll game that came to play with two heights in certain situations, allowing us a few seconds to make better decisions in those safe areas (in front of the enemies from above or below).

Where it did make us sweat ink, beyond that sudden presence of enemies coming from everywhere (almost all of them, jumping and plummeting towards Joe), it was against the duels of the last bosses ... especially the maddening Mandara ( until we discover the tricks to beat him), Lobster (for not allowing almost any mistake with the jumps) and especially Masked Ninja. All a test of resistance whose credits, after beating him, we knew little.

¿ Have you endured time well?

Yes, although its formula has been surpassed in later generations. What is undeniable is that Shinobi is part of the history of the video game and that it still hurts to see how we have been doing since the homonymous chapter of Nintendo 3DS in 2011 without a new delivery. Almost 10 years! ¿When will you return, SEGA?
