Ryan Tannehill's turn in Tennessee

It is Ryan Tannehill's turn for the Tennessee Titans. That's a mouth full huh? Lots of Ts and double letters and whatnot. In only one game of action, he has looked pretty good. Considering the solid roster around him and his decent history in the NFL I am intrigued at what he could possibly bring to the team. Of course there is a reason he was not exactly the highest profile free agent. He's not exactly elite. Not horrible either. He was the the starting QB for the Miami Dolphins from 2012-2018 although he did end up missing 24 games due to injury during his time there.

I am moderately surprised the Titans acquired Tannehill in a pretty low key fashion. I felt as though some team would have interest in him for a possible starting role somewhere. Washington? Denver? It's hard to say where Tannehill could have gone. He was always kind of super average. I can't remember how many flashy plays he has made. Not an insult I just don't remember much, but I also don't remember much horrible football from the guy.

When I went and checked out the guy's stats my level of surprise that we picked him up increased.

The dude doesn't have breathtaking statistics, but as a game manager and a competent guy running the offense? Not bad. Plus it can't exactly be fun or advantageous to be playing Bill Belichick and Tom Brady twice a year as the Dolphins and Patriots are in the same division.

Also, as an always supportive fan I am going to hope and assume that the Titans have a better roster around Tannehill than he had in Miami. Not even saying that's true. I can only hope! I know the Titans team wayyyyy more than I know Miami's.

I really liked what I saw from him in one game. He can make all the throws, honestly he has a cannon. He is a solid pocket passer and pretty athletic. Slightly above average speed and agility for a QB.

Against the Chargers it really showed how many weapons Tannehill has in Tennessee. He really spread it around.

Did the Titans snag a QB that is a actually better than Mariota? Time will tell for the answer to that question. I do think it's cool from a roster stand-point that the Titans have Mariota as QB2. I still like Mariota, Tannehill is not invulnerable.

As soon as Mariota's fate is official after this year, I will make a post thanking him.

Right now though it's Tannehill Time in Tennessee, and if the guy sucks at this point in the season, then the season will be over. At 3-4 the Titans basically have zero room for error.

I am a Titans fan before anything no matter how much I like the players.

He is very athletic and has sharp throwing capability, I think that is essential when counter with an offensive strategy. It would be interesting.
