Conferences + Divisions = Rivalry!

Conferences and divisions are an important part of most sports leagues, and for one very important reason, rivalry!

Yes, part of the reason leagues get chopped up into conferences and divisions is to make travel time and costs more reasonable. However, it also creates regional rivals that bring a lot of excitement to sport. When two teams have a genuine distaste for each other it creates an ongoing competition aside from regular league play. In the league, these matches may have no bearing on league standings, but to the teams and their fans, every game against their rivals is a championship game.

So, as usual at UFF Sports, if they do it in live play that's how we do it as well. Yep, once our historic professional hockey franchise auction is complete (Jan 17th, 2020) and all the pro players are drafted (Jan 19th, 2020) the UFHL conference and division structure will be assembled.

This structure will mimic the NHL in every way possible, same number of teams in each division and conference as the pros. We will also emulate the current NHL play-off qualification rules, wild cards and all!

Sure, our travel costs are pretty low in the UFF Sports world, nonetheless, we want fantasy sports RIVALS. We want our fantasy sports owners and fans to get that sick feeling deep in their stomach when the see their greatest adversaries logo or jersey. These types of rivalries are really at the heart of sport. There is nothing more fun than trash talking that one team you simply detest.
