January 14 2020 - Why Interlaced

(Edited)

At first I thought there's no way I'm gonna get over 5k steps because I've been editing with Premier and Photoshop the whole day. And writing also a bit. But decided to check out anyway my step count from yesterday and I was really surprised! Over 12k!

I guess my own teachings have finally gotten in to my own thick head also. "Don't sit for excessively long periods of time. Take a break once in a while and move your body. One minute break every 30 minutes." That's what I've been telling and that's what I did yesterday. Lifted my ass from the chair and did something else. My upper back, shoulders and neck are the first ones to scream for a break if I try to ignore taking a break once in a while, so I had to.

Sunday I found some old chair balancing video footage from June 2017 and decided to make a short video of it. I also had previously decided to switch from @DTube to @ThreeSpeak with my videos so I thought this was the best time to do that. Here's the video: https://steempeak.com/hive-100421/@geekdancing/cjvurgci

Added a kaleidoscope thingy to it to distract people from my lack of arm muscles and the fact that I better not run of with any circus. Not just yet. Not with my skills. Or the lack of those.

Anyway, made the video, rendered it and downloaded it to 3Speak. After waiting about 45 minutes when it still wasn't published, I went to sleep. Woke up this morning and there it was.

Then noticed something. It's not there every time and it's not in the YouTube version, but it's there.

Did a rookie mistake when rendering the video. Something that hasn't been a problem for a long time. But now it suddenly was.

For some reason decided to export the video to H.264 format, not MPEG2 as I've done with most of my videos that I've downloaded to YouTube and DTube. As the material is shot with a crappy phone camera, H.264 might be a bit too exaggerated. But did that anyway and also ticked the boxes: "Yes, yes, render with maximum and high and every way in superior quality." Because I wanted to. Crappy footage but awesome render quality. Makes sense.

If I hadn't ticked those boxes, the default setting would have been preset for Android Tablet and the field order would have been nothing. I mean progressive.

But as I had ticked the high quality boxes, there also was the field option choice. Progressive, upper field first or lower first. Should have chosen the progressive, but I didn't even think about that before I saw the video in 3Speak.

So the upper field first option still is there by default. Why not progressive I ask. (I'm assuming this option is the thing fixing my problem in the future.) But I guess it's because my Premiere Pro CS6 is such an old version.

But I'm not ready to throw my old Premier away because it works fine. It is not its fault that the user is a moron. The program has everything I need and more. That's why I'm sometimes lost in it's settings as I don't use it everyday so after a month or a year, I forget things. And YouTube fixed my mistake so I hadn't even thought about it. I guess also 3Speak did that. For a while. But when I refreshed the page the error came back. The zig zag and interlacing. Cute.

Or it's in my head.
