Starting the year in beauty

After a not so typical New Year's Eve, waiting for a travel buddy near the airport, nothing as starting the year visiting one of the landscapes I wanted to see in these vacations: Cinqueterre!

The 5 small coastal villages in the western coast of Italy offer postcard-type settings, with houses in a multitude of colours and surrounded by nature.

They can be reached by short train rides, but there's also a walking path connecting them, and doing it was one of the objectives. Visiting in the winter had the advantage of escaping crowds; but unfortunately a big part of the walking path was closed.

Well... to tell the truth, this part of the walking trail was closed as well! But the weather was perfect, as it had been on the previous days; and there I went. And glad I did. The way to Corniglia, coming from Vernazza, passes through olive fields, sea on one side and trees and bushes on the other one.

And a short time after starting the roughly 1:15h course, Corniglia, the third of the Cinqueterre, appears at the edge of the cliffs, overlooking the ocean.

If you ever visit Cinqueterre and you like nature trails, don't miss the opportunity. You will be blessed with amazing views... and you can treat yourself with a typical Italian gelato when you reach your destination!
