Do you (stil) celebrate?

Good morning to all of you.

Do you celebrate?

Do you like parties?
It is a long time ago I went to one and if it comes to birthdays... The older we, me and my children, get the less we celebrate with other people.
My children started with no longer inviting people as they found out those people were not their friends.

I gave up on celebrating with other people years ago. To be honest for the same reason.

As I was a young child birthday we celebrated with the whole family. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins they all took the time to be there. Also the aunt no one had contact with because she changed her religion to get a job in a village.
There was coffee with pie and we ate together. In those days dinner was a social event.

My birthday (Holland toast) breakfast at noon. Beschuit with butter and hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles). Cheap it is. Beschuit is bread, cut in slices and baked again. Cheap food for the sailors. I grew up with hagelslag. It is very Dutch to eat it on your bread. These sprinkles are not meant for the pie

I celebrate alone

Like I said I gave up on celebrating years ago. I always made a lot of work out it. Cooked for many different courses and there we're all kind of (alcoholic) drinks available.
On a certain birthday, I waited for guests who did not show up.
I called and got for an answer It is raining so we decided to stay in bed.
After that, I decided no longer celebrating with family and friends.

Times changed, people are busy.
Some are really busy with two or three jobs and once home tired.
Others are busy with the internet and driving 20-60 minutes cost too much energy.

It is good to celebrate

According to some religions celebrating your birthday is a deadly sin.
I do not share that opinion. Many have low self-esteem and there is nothing wrong with being the center of attention once a year.
If you are alone you should celebrate too, do something for yourself. Buy yourself something nice, eat what you like and enjoy it.

Be happy!

I teach my children that they are their own best friend. If it is their birthday they have to pamper themselves too.
Choose what to eat, how to dress, where to go or rather stay at home, and buy a present for themselves.

None of us have the guarantee that he/she will always be surrounded by other people who give them a good/special feeling so be your own best friend!

My activities of the day were walking (with and without a dog), gardening (always good for a high amount of steps), cleaning and being a chauffeur for my children.

I did not come to posting and responding much due to my slow connection, sorry if I did answer you.

I wish you all a great day, with or without activities and celebrate in your own way. A way that makes you feel good instead of others. 💕
