Help! I tried to do this and you need to use your active key to send funds, but it told me, "failed, check to see if you have your memo key."
I thought just putting the hastag in the memo made it encrypted, and you use your memo key to read the encrypted return message?

What worked for me:

  1. Sign in to wallet.hive.blog using your Memo key. It may help to open it in a private browsing/incognito tab for this purpose.
  2. When you send your HIVE with the message as shown in the post instructions above, it should ask you to confirm the transfer with your Active key, but the Memo key should have already assigned encryption as described above.
  3. You can then verify successful encryption by going to your account view in hiveblocks.com to see what the public can read.

Thank you so much, I got it to work. And I had to do it through hive.blog, because when I tried it on peakd I got an error. LOL.

Dear @phoenixwren, You also need your memo key to encrypt your message in the first place. The easiest way to do it is installing keychain on your browser and putting in your masterpasswort. With this you have all your keys and dont need to put in anything again. Not sure if its so easy with only hivelogin.
