The Halloween Hash was a tremendous success!

Just a quick reminder to anyone reading this that any time I say "Hash" I am not referring to hashish. This is not a drug page. I am referring to the global groups of "drinkers with a running problem" that gather together for a bit of exercise as well as some ice cold beer afterwards and even sometimes during our runs.

I also want to acknowledge that I realize that I am getting around to posting this very late. I have my reasons.

Halloween is a fun one for us each year and while not everyone dresses up, some people really go out of their way. There is a good reason why most of us don't dress up and that is because running is already a pretty hot activity, especially in a tropical country and therefore costumes would be a little bit of a hindrance.

However, a few of our members, and most of them were the ladies, pulled out some stops to make the day feel a bit more special. To be fair, most of them did not wear this stuff on trail and the person you see with the face paint on didn't even do the run. They were just there for entertainment purposes as is frequently the case with "Burrito Butt."

The trail itself was pretty flat but also a bit muddy, which is to be expected this time of year during rainy season. The fact that we have been on the receiving end of some tropical storms (just on the very far outskirts of them, thankfully) ensures that there is plenty of moisture on trail at all times.

Thankfully it didn't rain too much during the run and when the circle (the part we do at the end of the run) had no rain at all. It was the usual 5km or so - depending on how many mistakes you make - and no one died.

I would like to extend a personal thank you to the people who made an effort to make this Halloween seem real and get on the case of everyone else, including myself, who didn't do anything Halloween-ish at all.

As always I encourage you to come and join us if you are in the Chiang Mai area by getting specifics on the runs at our website or by having a look around your area to see if there is a HHH nearby you. Since there are over 2000 chapters globally, there is a good chance that there is one near you!
