Weekly running update 1st Week Feb 2020

Back up to four runs this week, even with a Monday run from last week, I was really feeling it!

2 interval sessions - on Weds and then Thursday, followed by the Saturday Park Run and a 10K tread on Sunday..... great stuff!

I track most of my runs with Garmin, which auto uploads to Strava.

Weekly running summary:

  • Total kilometers this week:
  • No. of runs:

Wednesday's Run - 6.5Ks of intervals

3400s to warm up and then 15 30-20-10s, with 2 min rest breaks in between each set of 5. Bit ropey, but I got them in

Thursday's Run: 3.5Ks of 100 metre intervals

I've been meaning to push up to 4 runs, and I was feeling it Thursday, so I headed back up to the same track and just bashed out 8* 100 metre sprints, not too much, not all-out, as it's my first 4 run week in ages, but this felt good!

Saturday's Run: Park Run!

Man this was windy! So not the best time, but I was pleased with my effort. A chunk very kindly overtook me about 1K in, just on the uphill windy section, so I very kindly sat behind him for 500 metres until some houses blocked the wind and then very kindly cruised past him.

That's what I love about Park Runs.... I get the feeling that no one wants to be beaten by the guy with the beard, and quite a lot of those people have no idea that I'm actually quite fast for my age. I love it!

I took this one quite easy for the first 4KS, then hit it in the last K - quite pleased to kick it up to the 3.50s for the last bit, faded at the end though, but that's as the course goes from downhill to flat again.

Sunday's Run: 10K tread

Screenshot 20200202 at 18.08.31.png

Played my elevation game again - 225 metres gained in 10Ks at 12 KPH, felt quite hard this one, probably because of that extra run.

Next week's plans

  • Besides being back on my normal days, I think it's just going to be rinse and repeat.

That's a good set of runs for the week. I had been managing 4 per week, but got a cold now and so did not run today. Hope I can over it quickly.

Hey cheers, I actually feel pretty wasted sitting here now on Monday morning. Not in a bad way, but I can feel it.

Hope your cold disappears swiftly!

Gentle jogs 'til it does maybe.

I bet you're the kind of person who never takes a day of work either!

I am taking today off as I don't want to be coughing over people on the train and my colleagues. With the current corona scare that won't go down well. I wonder if we will see more people in face masks soon.

A day off can often save you several more! It's better for productivity I'm sure.

I guess someone coughing would scare people more than usual these days. I feel sorry for anyone who looks vaguely East Asian and sneezes on the tube.

Face masks wouldn't surprise me in the least.
