Weekly running update mid February 2020

Four runs this week, and very pleased:

Two interval sessions, a personal best in the Park Run and I made it out for the first time in ages for a 12K 'long' run, this morning.

I track most of my runs with Garmin, which auto uploads to Strava.

Weekly running summary:

  • Total kilometers this week: 27
  • No. of runs: 4

Tuesday's Run - 6Ks of treadmill intervals

Screenshot 20200209 at 18.05.16.png

It was windy so I opted for my standard 400 meter intervals on the treadmill. The first two I count as a warm up and then 400 Metre intervals with 300 recovery as follows:

  • 15.5 KPH
  • 15.5 KPH
  • 16 KPH
  • 16 KPH
  • 16.5 KPK
  • 17 KPH

The 17 was a bit out there i thought, but I felt fine!

Thursday's Run: shorter intervals

A track session, nice and short because this is my second interval session of the week. I did 4* 200s and then 2* 100s, at something like 95% effort!

Saturday's Run: Park Run!

Screenshot 20200209 at 18.06.30.png

Personal best today.... by 4 seconds, 20.49, so my time is coming down. NB this is partly because I started nearer the front than usual, bit of a no-brainer way of improving yer time!

However it was a little windy and the surface wasn't that great, so there's more.

The intervals have been working, I felt faster while running with ease!

Sunday's Run: 12K long run

Screenshot 20200209 at 18.07.12.png

It was raining and windy, but warm, so good for an out run. I set out to do the 10K I did at New Year, but thanks to missing a left turn on the way back, I ended up 3Ks from home at the end, so had to add on this little extra...

Screenshot 20200209 at 18.07.41.png

I literally ended up at the furthest point possible from home, almost to the individual step. OOPS!

Legs feel a bit shot.

Next week's plans

Rinse and repeat, toying with idea of doing a local 10K race next Sunday, we'll see!

Hey cheers!

I've got around 30K AFIT already, that'll do me!

I did used to post my runs using my alt account @self-track but I've lost the will since the app consistently fails to track my steps. Now it just winds me up.

Better getting something than nothing i would say! I use it aswell but to get accurate step count i use my preinstalled app. The difference is not huge tho. And you could still force your device to not fail. There are just a couple settings to adjust. Imo it would be great having you back posting. There is even a challenge now in cooperation with @appics where people get rewarded even more

I take your point.

If they integrated it with my Garmin it would make a huge difference!

4 runs in a week, I don't think I did 4 runs in my entire life, lol.

I always admire people who are into running, I just always feel like I'm going to collapse after 2 minutes. :)

Running's not for everyone.

And you've got Zumba, almost certainly better for all-round fitness.

I do get some silly dance videos up a few times a week and combine that with circuits, it's a great work-out!

I should probably update my bio because, unfortunately, I'm not taking Zumba classes anymore, haha. But I do take a similar class every now and then. It's definitely my favorite form of excercise.

When it comes to running, I always wanted to give it a fair chance since I live so close to the football playground so it would be convenient since it's so close and free.

I would love to see that! :D

Any exercise is good, it keeps me sane!

You should get out for a run, just give it longer than 2 minutes and you should be fine, who knows you might even get hooked.

I can safely say there is zero chance of my uploading a video of my dancercise efforts!
