For Days When There's Nothing To Bet On

For days when there's nothing to bet on, controlling the urge to bet is the hard part. So tempting to put a little bit on snooker in Northern Ireland but those small bets do add up!

So, to avoid the temptation, i'm looking at some data now. Here's an interesting one from FCTables about the profitability of betting on certain teams one way through out the season. A good way to visualize if the bookies have been underestimating or overestimating them.

Here's the data from the Premier League:

A couple of interesting ones stand out.

  • Norwich have surpassed all expectations this season and have the best return so far this season. Not surprising as the bookies wouldn't know how to value a newly promoted team.

  • Liverpool have surpassed even their high expectations so far. Notching a positive yield on both wins and double chance. They'll have to lose eventually.

  • BTTS is a tough market. You need to pick you spots carefully here.

  • Sheffield United and Wolves DC look like a good market to explore. Unfortunately the data isn't there for DNB.
