Skate Hype, Skateboarders Social Network (DHF proposal post for phase 2)
Project Summary
Skate Hype is a Skateboarders Social Network platform available as Web, Android app and iOS compatible with Chromecast and Airplay.
Our team is trying to move best skateboarders and filmers from Instagram to our Skate Hype platform offering:
- Rewards through our new custom Hive Curation Trail: Hive rewards through upvoting.
- Rewards through contests (Like Cash For Tricks, now out of funding): Direct rewards in HBD.
- Rewards to filmers through Extra filmer rewards system: Pay per view in HBD.
- No cookies, no data tracking.
- PAL/NSTC video suppport (widely used in skateboarding filming)
Skateboarders have a door to the Hive network through our platform that do Hive account creation, 5 HP delegation, auto set profile image and subscribe to the recently created Skate Hype community, all at once in a friendly integrated interface. This service is developed, widely tested and now is out of funding to pay for new Hive accounts.
Hive accounts
@skatehype.com is the platform account with posting key in server wallet that has authority of all Hive users: Used for post, comment and upvote.
@hypeuser is the platform account with active key in server wallet: Used for user creation, hp delegation and Extra filmer rewards.
@miguelurbina is the person who owns both above mentioned accounts. Senior developer, platform founder and skateboarder.
Development
- Phase 1: Build custom Hive Curation Trail for automatize rewards for best content. Done!
- Phase 2: Promote platform through skateboarding online contests and offering free Hive Account for best skateboarders and filmers.
- Phase 3: Build a Hive for Ads interface to transform Fiat into Hive, a brief should be like:
- Platform offer advertisement for Hive (e.g. 5 seconds video ad at the end of any video)
- Advertiser buy Hive with credit card using Hive Keychain and pay for ads
- Platform stake Hive to increase vote power on his Hive Curation Trail.

If we achieve phase 3 we are creating a model that introduces Fiat into Hive network.

We will continue to cover most of our costs ourselves. We are asking for to pay phase 2 promotion for a year:
- Pay contest like Cash For Tricks (HBD 100,-/month)
- Pay for rewards to filmers through Extra filmer rewards (HBD 100,-/month)
- Pay new Hive accounts for onboard selected skaters and filmers (HBD 100,-/month).
We ask for a total of:
HBD 30 per day for 120 days
TOTAL FUNDING HBD 3600
To be credited to the @skatehype.com account.
What happens if the proposal becomes funded?
If our proposal is funded by the DHF, we will:
- Run new contests like Cash For Tricks.
- Transfer HBD to @hypeuser account to pay filmers.
- Buy HIVE and transfer it to the @hypeuser account to pay for new Hive accounts.
for a year.
What happens if the proposal becomes unfunded?
If our proposal is not funded by the DHF, you also have other ways to help us:
- Join our Hive Curation Trail authorizing Posting to @skatehype.com with Hive Keychain
- Delegate HP to @skatehype.com

Can you clarify the following:
Does this mean that users send you their keys, or are you getting them to grant posting authority to the @skatehype.com account so that it can sign operations on their behalf?
I see on your curation trail app that you are using Keychain to grant posting authority, so I assume that's what you mean by "account with posting key of all Hive users".
Instead of paying for accounts with HBD, once you have enough Hive Power, you could setup a script that automatically claims account creation tokens with Resource Credits. Then you can create accounts for free with these tokens.

please dont fall for miguel stories, our experience with him was terrible. he only wants money, and the app will always suck for us skaters. I was the one that was driving users and content there, and I regret it so much bringing my friends to his covil
I would like to state that this project is NOT associated with @skatehive, our with any skatehive member It was in the past, but our experience with @miguelurbina was terrible.
All skatehype relation with hive come from the Skatehive community and its efforts to spread Hive Blockchain and create its community. Skatehive and Skatehype broke up because @miguelurbina acted as a SCAMMER that made our whole community work for HIS app, while we he made was think we were doing our decentralized and open source together, yes he holds everyone keys and refuses to open the source. The moment we asked to see the code, which was expected since day one he freaked out.
As a Skater and a HIVER, I wish this proposal dont pass. And I would like the HIVE community to trust us members of skatehive (hivers since 2017) when we say that Miguel and skatehype does not align with HIVE values.
The harm that miguel did in our community was too big, we lost so much time. And at the moment we were not useful for him anymore he just stopped replying and tried to steal our users, even after we proposed all kinds of good partnerships and teamwork.
Miguel only wants money for the funds to create his centralized app without any marketing knowledge, there is 19 users and a terrible UI/UX. He is not a team player and the app will never grow
His app and intentions are harmful for skateboarding culture and hive culture, again he just want money from DHF to do what he and himself only wants.
To finish, I would like to invite Miguel and anyone who is interested to a community call to talk about what happened and his proposal in a public voice chat
I wouldn't waste my time reading Miguel's proposal. This guy was wanting us skaters to work for his app as slaves. When we suggest opening the code to speed up updates this guy just dropped out. That is, he just wants to create ways to make money. for your own benefit.

After not accepting the conditions of a group, a member of the group got angry and is now telling lies and defamations about me by labeling me directly. I am free to accept or not the proposals and I should not be abused and defamed. How do you proceed in such a case, because this is what is happening to me now.

You came to our community, with your ugly app that no one was using, asking for an way of monetize your 3 users, we showed you that beyond monetization web3 could bring decentralization, consensus, community, perpetual backup and much more. We proposed ourselves to build this app together for our culture.
Then there we were, teaching you how to connect hive api, doing support for users and onboarding our community in what you made us think was the community app. You always said that you were going one way with, but always went the other way, your way. But still we trust you, we knew how big that could become and we add you to the Council
We started to smell something wrong, your were against voting, you always refuse to voice chat, everytime that subject werent interest for you, you made yourself hard to reach and when we pushed you to do what you have promised ( to open the app , at least to the council ) you fooled us for weeks, when we realized your real intentions and that we lost 6 months of development (we had just acquired bee to make a tribe when you came to us) we were obligated to make you the most simpatic proposal ever

we do everything together as a beautiful dao, make decisions with the same voting power 🌈
we make a beautiful partnership between miguels new app and the skatehive community
In both ways, or time wouldnt be sooo lost, after 1 week thinking the best way to present you our good intentions, you said 5 words , left the group, the discord, never replied back and "disconected all hive services for unlimited time" and then next day you turned on again, connecting again to skatehive (shady as fuck) we had to tell you the obvius, dude, come on, you dont even reply to us and you will be connecting the app to our community without talking to us ?
You know how I know your app is centralized and a product of your ego ?
Its impossible go to skatehype and not see you on the app, in every category.

Lies? Dude, we're just telling the truth. Can't you understand? You have gained many clicks on your site through our work. You were the only one here to get free advertising. All your merit at HiveBlockchain involves our SkateHive community. Even Bob Burnquist came into the app, through OUR work. The only one lying here is you. We've done a lot of content for SkateHype. For you to leave the project because you're supposed to not accept an offer. None of us would like to steal it, but improve developments. But it's okay your mind is too centralized for that.
He didn't react because he has nothing to say. Hive is for everyone but not everyone is for hive. A guy like that only sees money. He doesn't want to create real connections. He doesn't want to create benefits for skaters. It does not accept sharing the app code to accelerate innovations. He just craves to fill his own ego.

the whole story;
We were expressing the need to change the UI because it sucks. the only thing that makes it worth using, is the fact that its linked with hive. but the UI is still terrible. it should be a GREAT app, along with hive integration. and we were going to hire devs to help him too.
so we were trying to get him to improve UX so that people wouldnt get pissed off by using his clunky app, and he got all grumpy and left the skatehive discord.

we have spent years building the skatehive community, he has spent years making his skate app.
and i see why vlads pissed off. and i guess i can see why miguel doesnt want to decentralize his app.
vlad organized a discord video chat meeting with Bob Burnquist to discuss how we should all team up. miguel told bob, " my apps web3, web2, doesnt matter"
miguel does not share our vision of what can be done with web3.
what miguel SHOULD do, is team-up with skatehive/StokenTribe, but he seems to think we do not know what we are doing.
we were talking about how we should have NFT sale pages and like turn skatehive into its own DAO and stuff and miquel said that "most skaters hate crypto so less will join my app if there is anything to do with NFTs on it"
which is the opposite of what is true lol, there is ZERO reason to use his app without the hive integration. and i think miguel might be starting to realize this.
I also respect Miguels tricks. Mainly because they are hard, stylish and he never talks while landing it. (sorry couldnt resist, actually I would like he talks more to us instead of just showing his trueself in his actions)
What I think he should have done, was to be clear since day one, and not draging us to his centralized idea.
Everyone has their own story to tell and here is mine, the same I sent to Miguel while we were chatting about what happened between Skatehive/Skatehype last night.
My opinion about what happened
In my opinion it was failed communication that ruined the partnership but also couldn't keep working like that cause we were NOT working together. There was absolutely no benefit for Skatehive since people didn't know they were posting on Skatehive, there was no mention to skatehive exept a couple sentences and a button almost no one pressed and we didn't have at least acess to the app so we can say "Ok, at least we all own a part of Skatehype". .
I blame all of us
We could make a deal from the beggining as Skatehive-Skatehype but we didn't and later on after many meetings and chats we thought Miguel understood our plans and how web 3 works but he didn't or didn't want to and we kept working for a web 2 app cause we thought it was gonna be owned by everyone who helped in making skatehype successful.
Not a single one of us who helped in connecting skatehype, onboarded people, did contests and moderated the community got paid, we were denied access to the code (of course Miguel had every right to do this but that's not how web 3 apps work) so no security for us in case anything happens to Miguel so we couldn't keep doing this for free without any benefit to our community (Skatehive).
Later on after we realised there was no way Miguel (creator of Skatehype) was gonna open the code to at least the team we did this proposal as skatehive to skatehype, proposal was denied and skatehype was unplugged from Hive the next day. This made me sad to be honest and that's when I realised that all my efforts of propoting skatehype to our community (skatehive) has gone to waste.
In Miguel's defence, he was polite at me but I feel a bit fooled to be honest. Life goes on though and we as skatehive team will never stop building open-source tools accessible to everyone. We build Web 3 style!
