Holidays Are Over, Competitions On!

Indeed, as much as we love these holidays, everything comes to an end, just like this one. Competition is on as the title says. I was wondering what athletes who are competing already were doing this time as they new they have to stay in shape.

Anyway, FIS Ski World Cup Snow Queen Trophy 2020 already took place this year, yesterday and the day before to be precise. It took place in Zagreb, Croatia at a slope covered with artificial snow.

Artificial snow is different from the real one in so many ways. This snow that skiers were competing on was made in a hangar, uploaded on a truck and transported to the venue then distributed on the slope. Unfortunately it became icy and that's makes skiers job harder but it's also dangerous. Thank God there were no accidents. This artificial snow requires a different wax and you have to know which one to use.

Petra Vlhova had no problem at all as she won the race, Mikaela Schiffrin could only finish second and Katharina Liensberger came third. It was a nice race no matter the results. The two Italian lady only came 13th and 14th. They need to practice more.

The stake for Mikaela Schiffrin was high here, winning here would have meant getting closer to his goal, which is the all-time women’s mark of 82 World Cup wins. Right now the title is tide to her compatriot's name, compatriot Lindsey Vonn who is retired now.

Men's podium look very different.

These guys were the best of the best. Noel Clement managed to be the fastest. Winning here made him lead the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup slalom rankings with 180 points, Myhrer comes after him with 175 points.

It was good to see this event as it was different from what I've been watching lately. Already looking forward to the next one.
