Today I wanted to watch tennis but this is not by request, I had to watch what Eurosport was airing. This is how I ended up with Snowboard slopestyle from Laax, Switzerland. It was the world cup and was worth watching. I've seen snowboarding before but not slopestyle.

While watching the competition I was wondering if I would ever try some of what these guys doing but the answer is a big NO! This is acrobatic stunts at the highest level. It's spectacular but very dangerous.

Most of the riders were from countries with snow, except for one South African and two from Brazil. This is unusual as they need to train in another country and that means costs. However, no worries as they are not that good unfortunately. None of the Brazilian managed to finish the race and the South African was among the lasts, unfortunately.

One of the competitors was competing with a broken arm. I don't know how that is possible but it was let to compete. Fridtjof Tischendorf, the Norwegian rider competed with a backpack on his back. This was also highly unusual, I saw no purpose in that other than to add some weight or keep him warm. The commentator was also wondering what's the purpose of the backpack.

After running a search I found out that the backpack is not empty, there's something in it as it has some weight. Fridtjof Tischendorf didn't want to tell the reporter what's in it when he was asked but said it has a $100. He's always competing with that backpack on his back.

Ok, back to the competition, Lyon Farrell started nicely in the first run but then fell and could not continue. Ryan Stassel, the 26 year old from Alaska had a good performance. Luke winkelmann, the 19 years old from North Carloina had an excellent performance.

Sven Thorgren had an excellent performance but he fell 2 meters before the finish line and that's not allowed. However, he finished fourth after the second run. Staale Sandbech was excellent. Sebastien Toutan wanted to play safe, no risks and it showed on his result, however, after the second run he won the competition. Justus Henkes (18) made a mistake at the beginning but after that he had some awesome jumps unfortunately touched the snow, he was first after finishing first run and placed third after the second run.

These guys were the best today. I really admire them as this is not easy, nor safe.
