Week 6 Player Ranks and 3-Person Draft Strategy

avatar
The last two weeks haven't been great for these drafts and guess what...this week is excellent! I'll be firing up at least 10 drafts this week.

The rankings are strategies are designed to beat 3-Person challenges on Draft.com. Each team takes turns drafting players in a 'snake' draft. Each team is required to draft a team that consists of 1 QB-2 RBs-2 WR/TEs.

The draft includes players that play on the Main Sunday Slate, which consists of the following 10 games:
MIA vs WAS
JAX vs NO
BAL vs CIN
CLE vs SEA
MIN vs PHI
KC vs HOU
ARI vs ATL
LAR vs SF
DEN vs TEN
NYJ vs DAL
Here are the player ranks:

Quarterbacks

I normally like to wait on QB, but I have Mahomes ranked significantly ahead of all the other QBs. Since RB and WR ranks are all over the place, we can take Mahomes with the first pick and still get some of our top RBs and WRs. If you miss out on Mahomes, just wait for your last pick to get a QB.

Runningbacks

I don't really know why Draft has LeVeon Bell so high. There's almost no TD upside even though he gets so many touches every week. After Mahomes, Dalvin Cook is a priority pickup. There's not a whole lot that separates everyone else although Leonard Fournette is up there.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

I know Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins have been pretty disappointing the last couple of weeks, but they've both got great matchups and we like them more than Draft does. You shouldn't have any problem getting at least one of them on every one of your teams. I like Cooper Kupp a lot this week and Odell Beckham Jr is a freebie if we get desperate for a WR.

First Position

Christian McCaffrey is always the number one pick until further notice, but he's not playing in this slate. Our highest RB is Dalvin Cook, but either Cook or Leonard Fournette(and Julio Jones) should be around for our second pick so there's not much of a reason to reach for one of them. I normally advise against this, but Mahomes is our first pick this week.

After Mahomes we're looking for Cook or Fournette to fall and reaching a bit to get Julio with our second and third picks. It would be great to see De Andre Hopkins and Nick Chubb fall to us for our last two picks, but it'll probably be Cooper Kupp and David Johnson. Just go best man available and you should get a nice assortment of players to diversify your exposure.

Second Position

This is arguably a better week to have a later pick. We're still looking at Mahomes with our first pick, but Cook is more likely to be there for our second pick and we'll still get Jones or Hopkins with the third pick. We might even get really lucky and start with a team like Mahomes-Cook-Jones-Hopkins and then fill it in with Nick Chubb or David Johnson.

Third Poisition

The bad thing is, I'm not so sure Mahomes makes it to us in the Third Position. I'm also not sure Jones makes it back to us for our third and fourth picks. The good news is, if someone takes Mahomes early, odds are Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette are available for our first two picks. If you don't like Fournette this week, I wouldn't blame you for going Cook and than Jones or whoever your favorite RB is.

Week 5 Recap

ROI to date:

WeekEntry FeesWinningsWeeklyNet YTD
Week 2$10$13.50$3.50$3.50
Week 3$50$81$31$34.50
Week 4$20$13.50-$6.50$28
Week 5$20$13.50-$6.50$21.50

We knew Weeks 4 and 5 weren't going to be great, which is why I didn't do nearly as many drafts as I did in Week 3. Week 5 was the second week in a row that I lost a draft by two points or less. Give me those two wins and each week has been profitable.

Ironically my best team didn't win. It scored 117.64 points led by Christian McCaffrey(44.7) and Michael Thomas(35.70). David Johnson(17.10) had a good week, but Julio Jones (5.7) and Lamar Jackson(14.44) killed this team. This is the team that lost by less than two points. The team that won had Deshaun Watson(41.74), Dalvin Cook(22.8), Alvin Kamara(13.92), DeAndre Hopkins(12.3), and Chris Godwin(28.0) for 118.76.

The best team out of the four drafts I was in scored 138.64 points. They drafted Deshaun Watson(41.74), David Johnson(17.1), Ezekiel Elliott (16.1), Michael Thomas(35.7), and Chris Godwin(28.0).
