Football Transfer News: Chelsea continue shopping spree, closing in on Rennes Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy
Chelsea are still splashing the cash ahead of the Premier League Season, with Edouard Mendy close to joining the club. Edouard Mendy will compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero to be Chelsea's first-choice 'keeper.
Edouard Mendy would become Chelsea's eighth signing of the summer following the arrivals of:
- Hakim Ziyech,
- Timo Werner,
- Xavier Mbuyamba,
- Ben Chilwell,
- Thiago Silva,
- Malang Sarr and
- Kai Havertz.
Chelsea are heavily spending to catch up with Liverpool and Manchester City to challenge for the Premier League Crown this upcoming season. After conceding 54 goals in 38 Premier League games last season. Frank Lampard probably was not impressed with the current Goalkeeper options at the club. With the addition of Mendy, it will surely be interesting as there will be competition for places.

It is good to see Roman Abromvich supporting Frank Lampard with these signings. The signings are a mix of for the future and the present. Chelsea have really pulled some quality signings this transfer window. I think they haven't ended the deals just yet, and we might see some more players going in.
