The Chicago White Sox are a Clown Show

No not this clown. that is Andy the Clown who is a Chicago Legend!
No. Not this clown. That is Andy the Clown who is a Chicago Legend!

I used to be a Chicago White Sox fan. I used to religiously go to at least ten games per year. I even bought a full game season ticket plan once... and then the very next day Robin Ventura suffered one of the most horrify ankle/foot dislocations ever. I used to not only know every single player on the Major League roster but I could tell you exactly how the Sox acquired him. I used to clear my head and fall asleep by reciting the White Sox 1993 every day lineup (It was Tim Raines, Joey Cora, Frank Thomas, George Bell, Robin Ventura, Ellis Burks, Lance Johnson, Ron Karkovice, and Ozzie Guillen by the way). I used to root for a team who recently won the World Series (21 years ago).

And then their owner, Jerry freaking Reinsdorf, murdered the little baseball angel that sat on my shoulder and watched over me at night. No. That is not enough. He tortured and murdered that little baseball angel while he made me watch in horror.

Now I can't name a single player on the team. Not one. I don't know anything about any of them. Apparently, this qualifies me for the job of General manager of the Chicago White Sox because he doesn't seem to know shit either. In case you were wondering (I know no one is) Chris Getz is the current GM of the Chicago White Sox. It seems Reinsdorf has a thing for making unqualified, former bad infielders, the GM of his baseball team. And I am not saying I'm qualified because I'm making fun of all of the horrible moves Getz has made since he took over as the GM. It's the White Sox. That is a given.

But here is what Getz and I have in common. I don't know anything about Luisangel Acuna either. Who is Luisangel Acuna (aside from a guy who has an incredibly cool first name)? He was the corner stone of the trade that sent one time can't miss prospect Luis Robert Jr. to the New York mets. In case you were wondering (I know no one is) the White Sox are awesome at making can't miss prospects miss horribly (I'm talking to you number one prospects Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopek).

Chris Getz pictured here with all of the other general managers who don't know about the players they trade for.

Anyway back to Luisangel Acuna (I'm writing it as many times as possible now since the White Sox will undoubtedly destroy what could have been a promising career and we will never hear form him again). Chris Getz LOVES Acuna. You know one of the things he loves best? The fact that he is so versatile and is a switch hitter. There is only one problem with that. Luisangel Acuna is not a switch hitter. He only bats from the right side. Should you know that? No. Should I know that? No. Should the guy in charge of every other team in the major leagues know that? Yes. Should the guy in charge of the White Sox know that? Of course not.

Remember, The White Sox are a complete freaking clown show. And that is what clown shows do. Oh and they lose. They lose a lot!

Well, glad you kept your dissatisfaction hidden😂😂😭

Every team in every sport has that one manager that fucks everything up and makes fans question themselves, their teams and their memories once in a while😂😂

Greetings, my friend. That player is Venezuelan 🇻🇪. He didn't play much in the LVBP (Venezuelan Professional Baseball League) and did a good job both defensively and offensively. Perhaps the trade will work out well for him; he'd be a starter and would showcase the talent we see in the winter league. Luisangel Acuña will be a great signing for the White Sox, so I hope I can go see him run the bases because that also brings the joy of his game to Chicago.

That’s awesome that he is from Venezuela. The Sox actually have a history of getting some good players from Latin America and Cuba.

That's right, my friend, the White Sox have chosen the baseball players from this country, Venezuela, well, and I think they've made the right choice.

Apparently the Tigers signed back Verlander, so who knows what that is going to mean for us. When he was good he was really good, but he was a bad a lot of the time too. Plus he is way older how. I used to follow the Tigers really closely as well, but that pretty much died when YouTube TV removed Fox Sports Detroit from the lineup and I had zero way to keep up with the games shy of signing up for the ridiculously expensive MLB league pass or whatever it is...

I was just watching that and how some sports commentators talk about Detroit's big three pitchers: Skubal, Valdez, and Verlander. Still, what also gives me pause is knowing that Verlander is not the same young man he was a few years ago.

I haven't followed him much since he went to the Astros. I know he won the controversial world series, but I feel like he hasn't done much beyond that. I'd like to hope he has some years left in him, but even when we had him and Scherzer together we couldn't do anything. The Tigers issue has historically been issues with relief pitching, not starting pitching.

Well, we'll have to wait and see how the story unfolds this season and how this stellar trio, which the Detroit team is betting on today, performs. 👍

Yeah it actually became way too hard to find local sports. Which is odd as everything is getting easier to find with different streaming services. The Sox have their own… which no one is going to pay for. So kids can’t even watch even if they wanted to.

It's crazy. Even live games aren't easy to get to. We have a minor league team close and that is fun. Almost as good.

Many people claim that championships are won by management, and I understand the concept behind that: management can make decisions that affect the team, which is why those decisions are so important for the team's success. Unfortunately, many seem to fall into a bad habit that even alienates fans and robs us of the spirit and passion we need to support our team.

It seems he doesn't have much faith in the White Sox owner, much less the General Manager, but in this particular trade for Luisangel Acuña, they gain a lot in my opinion. I don't know Robert Jr., but Acuña brings speed and a very dynamic style of play that the fans will like. Hopefully, they can be somewhat competitive and win a lot of games while their young players finish developing.

Looking into the Luisangel Acuña trade, I believe it was for money, as the Mets will cover the remaining $22 million of Robert's salary and acquire a great player, judging by his performance in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. He's also a good defender and a reliable hitter, which will undoubtedly be excellent for the White Sox.

It was 100% for money. The White Sox are on of the cheapest teams in sports.

In one way, yes, it's about money; you save a significant amount, and you also get a baseball player with great qualities for a lower cost. Undoubtedly, it's a good opportunity presented to everyone.

It’s one thing to be bad, but it’s another to be completely unprepared.

this hurt to read but in a funny, painful, “I’ve been there” kind of way. The 1993 lineup reference alone tells me this is real fan trauma 😭 Reinsdorf really managed to turn lifelong passion into total apathy, and honestly that might be his most impressive feat.

The misinformation that Chicago White Sox GM Chris Gaetz has given about Luisangel Acuña is truly laughable. As a general manager, he should have known that Acuña is not a switch hitter. I think this kind of behavior proves why the White Sox have become a clown show right now.

If we are supporting a team, we should do it from the beginning and then we should do it until the end. The players of the team should also work hard for the people who watch them because when the team wins, the fans are much happier.

Robin Ventura’s injury was the real clown show for Sox fans, still laughable how it broke the team.
