Adruius is retiring after this season

The striker, who has become a legend at Athletic Club but has also played for the likes of Real Valladolid, Real Mallorca and Valencia, will bring to an end a career which will have lasted 20 years.

"I wanted to inform you that this is going to be my last year as a professional footballer," Aduriz said at a press conference.

"I'm going to quit football when this season is over.

"I'm especially excited to be able to finish it at Athletic.

"The idea of saying it now is to avoid distractions and to focus everything on the team. Hopefully we can finish this year with something very nice and we can offer our fans a reason to be joyous.

"I'm very happy to be able to leave football at Athletic.

"I am going to compete and enjoy every matchday until the end."
