Finland and Sweden join the 10 other countries that qualified for the 2020 European Cup after both won the match last night. Whatever the final result, it will not affect the fate of the two to advance to the finals which will take place in 12 cities.

So far, there have been 12 countries that have definitely escaped. They are Belgium, Italy ,. Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, France, Turkey, Finland and Sweden. There are still several other leading teams that have not locked the ticket to the finals.

The 12 countries that have passed are mostly the leaders in their respective groups. However, there are also those who occupy the second position in each group such as the Czech Republic under England in Group A. Already played seven matches, the Czechs have collected 15 points and could not be overtaken by Kosovo which became its closest competitor and only collected 11 points.

Runners up in the standings that have also confirmed qualification for the 2020 European Cup are Sweden, Turkey, Russia and Finland. The residents of second place standings have accumulated at least 15 points.

While the Netherlands and Germany who are in Group C are both packing 15 points from four wins and one loss. There are no representatives from Group C who qualify because there are still various possibilities in the rest of the match. The leaders of the standings and runners-up certainly have a greater chance of qualification.

European Cup 2020 has some uniqueness compared to the previous European Cup. European Cup is not only held in one or two countries, but in several European countries. The UEFA Nations League is UEFA's new international competition that has four levels of competition, namely League A as the top one, followed by League B, League C and League D. Each league will have the four best teams that advance to the semifinals. Later in the final will be held to determine the four champions from each league and they will complete the quota of 24 teams in the European Cup.

If the league champions in the UEFA Nations League have confirmed qualification from the European Cup, then the quota will be given to runners-up from each league onwards.

Sejauh ini, sudah ada 12 negara yang sudah dipastikan lolos. Mereka adalah Belgia, Italia, . Ukraina, Rusia, Polandia, Spanyol, Inggris, Republik Ceko, Prancis, Turki, Finlandia, dan
Swedia. Masih ada beberapa tim unggulan lain yang belum mengunci tiket ke putaran final.

Ke-12 negara yang sudah lolos sebagian besar merupakan pemimpin klasemen di grup masing-masing. Namun, ada juga yang menduduki posisi kedua di setiap grup seperti Republik Ceko yang berada di bawah Inggris di Grup A. Sudah memainkan tujuh pertandingan, Ceko sudah mengumpulkan poin 15 dan tak mungkin terkejar oleh Kosovo yang menjadi pesaing terdekatnya dan baru mengumpulkan 11 poin.

Runner up klasemen sementara yang juga sudah memastikan lolos ke Piala Eropa 2020 adalah Swedia, Turki, Rusia, dan Finlandia. Para penghuni urutan kedua klasemen sementara sudah mengumpukan poin minimal 15.

Ada pun tim unggulan yang belum lolos adalah Portugal, Belanda, dan Jerman. Portugal yang sudah memainkan tujuh pertandingan, sudah mengumpulkan 14 poin, tertinggal jauh dengan Ukraina yang mengumpulkan poin 19 hasil tujuh kali kemenangan. Kemenangan 3 -0 atas

Sedangkan Belanda dan Jerman yang berada di Grup C sama-sama mengemas 15 poin hasil dari empat kali menang dan satu kali kalah. Belum adanya wakil dari Grup C yang lolos karena masih ada berbagai kemungkinan dalam sisa pertandingan. Grup lain yang belum memiliki wakil adalah Grup D yang kini dipimpin Denmark dengan 15 poin dan diikuti Swiss dengan 14 poin. Para pimpinan klasemen dan runner up sementara tentunya memiliki peluang lebih besar untuk lolos.

Piala Eropa 2020 memiliki beberapa keunikan dibandingkan dengan Piala Eropa sebelumnya. Piala Eropa tak hanya digelar di satu atau dua negara, melainkan di beberapa negara Eropa. Ada total 12 kota dari berbagai penjuru Eropa yang ditunjuk menjadi tuan rumah dari mulai fase grup hingga semifinal. Untuk semifinal dan final akan dihelat di London. Negara-negara tersebut sejak awal diminta mengajukan proposal untuk menjadi tuan rumah.

Selain itu ada juga laga fase grup yang dihelat di Saint Petersburg (Rusia), Roma (Italia), Munich (Jerman), dan Baku (Azerbaijan). Keempat kota itu juga dipercaya menggelar babak perempatfinal.

Tak cuma soal format turnamen yang baru, kualifikasi pun dijalankan dengan cara baru oleh UEFA. Selain lewat sistem kualifikasi seperti biasanya yang nantinya akan melahirkan 20 tim yang terdiri dari juara dan runner-up grup, UEFA juga akan mencari calon peserta Piala Eropa 2020 melalui UEFA Nations League.

UEFA Nations League adalah kompetisi antarnegara baru milik UEFA yang memiliki empat jenjang kompetisi, yaitu Liga A sebagai yang teratas, disusul Liga B, Liga C, dan Liga D. Setiap liga akan memiliki empat tim terbaik yang maju ke semifinal. Nantinya akan dihelat final untuk menentukan empat juara dari masing-masing liga dan mereka akan melengkapi kuota 24 tim di Piala Eropa.

Jika juara liga di UEFA Nations League sudah memastikan lolos dari kualifikasi Piala Eropa, maka jatah tersebut akan diberikan kepada runner-up dari tiap-tiap liga seterusnya.
