Diaz has the Olympic slot in hand

Hidilyn Diaz lit up again when she took home three gold medals at the prestigious 2020 Roma Weightlifting World Cup held at Palapellicone in Rome, Italy.

Diaz finishes the women’s 55-kg, the division where it recorded a snatch of 93 kgs. and clean and jerk of 119 kgs. for a total of 212 kgs. to sweep all three gold medals.

Diaz sits with Ukraine's Kamila Konotop in silver (196 kgs) and Tunisia's Nouha Landoulsi who comes in third with 194 kgs.

Diaz's chances of winning the Tokyo Olympics are even stronger.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will pour all the support for Diaz to ensure it will enter the Tokyo Games set for July 24 to August 9.

“We are supporting her in her efforts to qualify for the Olympics. She is one of those athletes on whom we are anchoring our dreams for Olympic gold. Congratulations Hidilyn, ”said PSC chairman William Ramirez.

Due to his World Cup success, No. Diaz is 4th place in the world ranking.

Only eight athletes in each division will be in action at the 2020 Olympics.

Diaz is just one qualifying event to formalize his involvement in the Tokyo Olympics.

Diaz will participate in the 2020 IWF Asian Championships to be held in Kazakhstan from April 16 to 25.
