Hornets owner and six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan will donate $ 1 million to organizations helping with relief efforts in the Bahamas hit by Hurricane Dorian.

In a statement, Jordan said it was concerned about the destruction of the Bahamas as a result of the typhoon.

Basketball icons are as valuable as the country, and they often visit there as well.

"My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and to those who have lost loved ones," Jordan said.

He also monitored the situation as recovery and relief efforts continued.

He said he would also provide funding to nonprofit agencies who would be in desperate need of help.

"The Bahamian people are strong and resilient, and I hope that my donation will be of help as they work to recover from this catastrophic storm," Jordan promised.

Last year when Jordan also made a $ 2-million donation to North Carolina propelled by Hurricane Florence.
