Rodrigo, rules in the Marikina active chess

Mark Rodrigo won the title via tiebreak at the end of the 2019 Concepcion Dos Chess Club Active Chess Championship held at the Dawg’s Boardgame Cafe on Lilac Street, SSS Village, Concepcion Dos in Marikina City this Saturday.

Rodrigo joins first-second places with Narcisco Gumila, who both earned 4.5 points in a 30 minute time control event organized by Pastor Ranier Pascual and International Memory Champion Robert Racasa, known as God Father of Philippine Memory. With the highest tiebreak point, Rodrigo took home the title while Gumila finished second.

Among the top 12 winners were Fide Master Christopher Castellano (3rd); Pastor Ranier Pacual (4th); Genghis Imperial Guard (5th); National Master Romeo Alcodia (6th); Joseph Lawrence Rivera (7th); Ruel Sto. Domingo (8th) April Joy Ramos Abudancia (9th); Raffy Lobitania (10th); National Master Rudy Ibanez (11th) and Salvador “Bobby” Dela Paz (12th). Mr. Ryan Carandang served as the chief arbiter of the chessfest.

This game should be supported by our government. There are many talented Filipino chess players that are migrated to other countries that support this game, like Wesley So. Anyways, thanks for sharing this news about the happenings in the chess world here in PH.
