Two Leyte Sports Academy (LSA) graduates bring home two medals in the country at the close of the 2019 Vietnam Open Track and Field Championships in Ho Chih Minh City.

Two players were identified as Mariano Masano and Melissa Escoton.

Masano, from Mayorga, Leyte, dominated the men's 1,500-meter run with 4 minutes and 1.63 seconds, Kim Min Soo of Korea took second (4: 02.00) and fellow PH bet Edwin Giron followed in time or 4: 05.90.

While Melissa Escoton, proud of Alang-Alang, Leyte took home the silver medal in the women's 100m hurdles just 15.00 seconds later from gold winner Raja Nursheena Raja Azhar of Malaysia (14.50sec).

Leyte Gov. Leopoldo Dominico Petilla praised the two as they are now members of the national team.

It makes me proud just by reading the headline, Filipino athletes making achievements in other countries which shows how athletic and competitive we are.
