Can the Desert Foxes go all the way?

The African Cup of Nations has reached the final lap and the last match will be contested between The Terranga Lions of Senegal and The Desert Foxes of Algeria. It promises to live up to the hype as the Lions are the highest ranked African team on the Fifa list while the Algerians are the In form team.

The Senegalese national team booked a place in the semifinal by edging the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia courtesy of an own goal. The Foxes on the other hand outplayed the Super Eagles and knocked them out courtesy of a brilliant Riyad Mahrez free kick.

Incidentally both teams have met in the group stage with the Algerian team coming out on top, however this encounter will be a different ball game as the Lions from Senegal look for a maiden AFCON title. The Algerians have won the title once on home soil in 1990 with Rabah Madjer leading the charge to glory.

I am of the opinion Desert Foxes should win based on form and the quality of play but then you can never know in a one off game of this calibre.
