You can’t win em all.....if you don’t win your first one!

Broncos QB Drew Lock has a chance to make a mark in Broncos history this weekend when we play the Houston Texans. Only two QB’s in franchise history have won in their first two starts as a Bronco. Drew Lock won his rookie debut start last week against the LA Chargers and was bombarded with congratulating tweets and texts after the game. Quarterback legend Archie Manning was not only maybe the best college QB to every play the game at Ole Miss but, he is also the father of two sons who are Super Bowl MVP’s at quarterback. When you get a text from the Mt. Rushmore of Mississippi.....it means something.

While congratulating Lock on the win Archie texted Lock, “You can’t win them all UNLESS you win the first one”. That’s fitting for a champion who has Super Bowl blood pumping through the family veins!

Craig Penrose was the first rookie QB to win two in a row in Denver. His career was short with only 5 years in the league and only 1976-1979 did he wear the blue and orange.

The second and only other rookie to win 2 in a row was ole #7....The Duke of Denver....Johnny Ballgame! John Elway who is the current team General Manager was a highly touted college quarterback who led us to 5 Super Bowls in the 80s and 90s. NOBODY in franchise history has ever won three games in a row as a rookie and Lock could give himself that opportunity with a win this weekend. Beating the superior Texans will certainly be a tall task but, that’s why they play the games. There are no guaranteed wins in the NFL, players are all talented, the football bounces funny and everyone is fighting for paychecks.

Good Luck Drew Lock! When you have this family of great quarterbacks in your corner, anything is possible.

Seeing Elway in that vintage number 7 jersey sure brings back memories. Growing up in the Vancouver area, I can remember watching him on national tv back in the 1980s. That was a cool era of football.

He's gonna need some top play from the defense to win against Houston.. and maybe some help from the officials like he got at Empower Field
