Djokovic...Phew!

I was betting on Djokovic last night. I thought Federer had no chance given his age and how he tends to slow down in tournaments as they progress beyond the quarters. Completely understandable given that he's 38 after all.

First set in, and Djokovic wasn't serving well. I think his first serves was like something in the 40s. Federer in contrast was banging them in the 70s. Somehow, in some sort of miracle, Djokovic stepped up when it counts and took the first set tie-break.

Oddly, the bookies raised the odds of a Djokovic win after he took the first set. He then promptly crashes in the second set losing 6-1. At this point things were looking dicey.

Third set was a repeat of the first. Djokovic not playing well but somehow managing to eke out a win in the tie-break. Nerves of steel!

Fourth set and Federer stepped it up a notch while Djokovic took it a little easy and paid the price. 6-4 to Federer.

2-2 and Federer certainly seemed the better player on the day. He won more games although the scoring system wasn't in his favor because he didn't make the clutch points.

And what can i say about the fifth set? Absolutely brilliant stuff with Djokovic saving match points to take it to another tiebreaker which he duly won.

Absolutely brilliant stuff and a much needed showpiece final after the debacle of the ladies' game.
