Chiro And My Dodgy Back

The whole session leads up to this point when he/she clicks your back into place. That is the idea though and sometimes takes a couple of session to work the muscles.

Most of you that know me would have read that I have had some back issues in the past that forced me out of being a professional rugby referee. I know I would have been good at it as it was a passion of mine giving back to a sport I love. I think if you are confident in your abilities and have an understanding of the players it goes a long way to doing something better than the other referees around.

I got onto this as I am back to seeing the Chiropractor this week as I already had one appointment last week. Many sportsmen without bad backs do this on a regular basis just to keep their backs in line preventing injuries. I know how to reset my own after all these years I have got the hang of it. This injury though is needing a little more force to get back into place.

Last week whilst visiting a client I nearly knocked myself out on a roller shutter by head butting it. The door won and left me seeing stars and only later the sudden movement had upset the stability of my back. It has been stable for a good few years now and you wouldn't even know I had an injury. I look after it by doing the correct exercises and heeding to any warning signs telling me a rest is required.

Over the years I have got to know and trust my Chiro like a trusted friend as he has to understand the pain you sometimes go through. My Chiro does as a few years ago a patient was doing a balance test on what I would describe as half a ball turned up side down and lost their balance. The result was he was thrown across the room and ended up having a back injury requiring surgery. I find that quite funny as what are the chances of that happening. Luckily his wife is also a Chiropractor and helps him with his back. She is more fun as she really cracks the back properly and I tend to feel a lot better the louder the gunk type noise experienced.

He works with a local gymnastic club down the road making sure the young girls don't damage their backs and he donates his time to this cause every second week. I never really thought of gymnasts and Chiropractors before ,but a young child could do serious damage if there back isn't properly warm and straight.

Soft tissue massage for gymnasts to help with flexibility.

There are a couple of things I had done and highly recommend if any of you played sport. Key hole surgery on the cartilage of your knees will smooth it out reducing arthritis and make you into a younger version of yourself today. Within a week you will notice the difference. The other is seeing a Chiropractor once a year or so just to make sure it is all lined up. Most private medical companies cover it and you get a decent massage at the same time.

My chiropractor mainly specializes in kinesiology so it is actually very rare that he cracks my back. It is mostly muscle groups and tension and resistance moves that he uses. It is really awesome. It always amazes me how different parts of the body are connected.

I need my back to be clicked as it is bone on bone. If he doesn't do it I have to come back to relieve the pain. I normally do it myself but every now and then I need his help.
