Kyrgios Wins Washington ATP: Three Predictions Right in a Row!

Even a broken clock is right twice a day, but it can't be right three times! I was very happy to see Nick Kyrgios win in Washington last night, especially with him keeping calm and composed throughout the match, but then again he didn't concede a set so who know's if he would have blown up again as he did in the Semi Final vs Tsitsipas if he'd have lost the first set.

But seen as how he scored me a hat trick of prediction wins, I can't complain, here they are:

Kyrgios to win Washington Outright at 5.00
Kyrgios to win vs Tsitsipas at 2.10
Kyrgios to win vs Medvedev at 2.10

Daniil Medvedev played the perfect set of tennis last night dropping only one point on his service game but still lost that set on a tie break on one crucial point he spurned out. Medvedev was 5-2 up in the tie break though, so he pretty much had the chance to seal it and potentially send Kyrgios over the edge. But back came Kyrgios to close the mini break before squaring up and then taking the lead with two dropshots. The first was a winning one, the second set him up for the passing shot down the line.

The second set was as tight as the first and would have to be settled with another tie break which Kyrgios took again showing his coolness under pressure and asking a fan which way he should serve out the match point.

There's no doubt that although Kyrgios was controversial and deserved disciplining yesterday in the Semi Final due to his outburst on court (including a disgusting spit) he provides the sort of entertainment the game needs in the post Djokovic, Nadal and Federer era. For me I would argue he is more exciting to watch than the former two and equally as the latter. He may not be as good but he certainly does entertain the crowd with his variety and tricks compared to some of the more flat and boring young players on tour. Perhaps this is the reason the ATP are a little more lenient on his outbursts than perhaps they should be.

This is the second 500 event Kyrgios has won this year, he has a small chance to grab a 1000 before the US Open but it's going to be tough to win in either Masters events in Canada or Cincinnati as the big 3 will be in attendance. Then again that's the sort of match Kyrgios revels in.
