The Curse of Being at the Wheel: Sack Race Top 3.

For what seems like an eternity Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been a man besieged. After an incredible 4-0 win in the first game of the season against Chelsea everything simply went tits up with draws and loses to weaker sides.

The honeymoon phase was over last season but it was truly over this time as fans and pundits tore into the manager. The song 'Ole's at the wheel' quickly dissipated into the wind like a hot fart in a gust and has never been sung since.

It is a cursed song. No sooner than you intimate your manager is at the wheel than everything takes a horrible turn. Arsenal fans can attest to this.

1. Unai Emery - Arsenal

According to most fans, the beginning of the end for Emery was late last season as Arsenal fought to get into the top 4. Out of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, the latter had the easiest opponents however, most of those matches had to be played away. Arsenal have on of the worst away form.

They failed to get top 4 and their only chance for Champions League football was through the Europa League in the final against Chelsea. They lost that match convincingly and were resigned to a third season in the Europa League.

This season, after what appeared to be an impressive summer window Arsenal kicked off with an incredible squad but still plagued by a poor defense and equally poor away record.

Emery has also frozen out Ozil one of the most creative players on the pitch from a side that barely creates much at the moment. He has also made some horrible decisions pitch-side that has led to Arsenal losing or drawing.

The Xhaka situation was not well handled by him as he was quick to tip him over the edge for the sharks and save his own skin.

Worst of all, the lads at AFTV are finally gunning for him. Will the banners come out?

2. Marco Silva - Everton

He casts an emotional, and lost figure on the touch line as if the weight of the world is crushing him. He always looks mopey and hard to love even as a neutral. I would imagine Everton fans are probably of the same mindset.

However, Marco Silva will probably get the sack not primarily because of his uninspiring performances as a manager but rather as a result of the unwarranted ambition of the club to become a top four side.

Everton have consistently been active in the transfer window paying massive fees for Moise Keane and Alex Iwobi, two players who are hardly world beaters at the moment. It is therefore my feeling that the club are trawling the market looking for a manager than embodies the vision and statue of the club Everton want to be.

3. Ralph Hasenhuttl - Southampton

Hasenhuttl came to Southampton and had an instant effect especially on the playing style. Before he arrived at the club, Saint's fans were exposed to a horrible bus parking affair. Slow, sideways passing football that was quite uninspiring to watch let alone for a club with top 10 ambitions.

After the short honeymoon period attributed to the arrival of a new manager, Southampton were quickly shocked back into reality conceding 9 goals to Leicester and are currently wallowing in the bottom three and fighting to stay up.

Will the owners give him the chance to turn the club around?

Honorable Mentions

  • Pochettino - It looks like he has taken Spurs as far as he could. The players are no longer responding to him and other players are rocking the boat looking for a way out by not signing new deals. Fortunately, the media have largely avoiding pilling on the pressure since the better, more profitable story is at Manchester United.

  • Quique Flores - Having just got reappointed to the Watford job, all has not been well. Just like Southampton, they have been on the worse end of massive scorelines especially the 8-0 smashing against Manchester City. He may have just got his job back but Watford have a rotating door policy. He may have just lose his job again especially if he can't take Watford out of the relegation zone.

Who do you think gets the sack first?
