American League Wins The All Star Game (Again)

One of these days the National League will fare better in the mid-Summer Classic.

Last night was not one to change the trend. Despite having a stacked lineup, the National League fell to the American League 4-3.

This was the 7th year in a row the American beat the National.

After a thrilling homerun derby won by Pete Alonso of the Mets, it was believed this game would be a high scoring affair. While the Commissioner was denying allegations that MLB juiced the baseball, a claim the Player's Union disputes, it was thought homeruns would fly out of the stadium in Cleveland.

Contrary to the thoughts, it turned out that the sluggers were silenced. There were two homeruns, one on each side. Strikeouts were more prevalent, with two American League pitchers striking out the side.

Clayton Kershaw took the loss by giving up a run scoring double to Michael Brantley, giving the AL a lead they would not relinquish. The National League did stage a comeback when down 4-1. This was capped with a two RBI single by the HR champ, Pete Alonso.

Adonis Chapman of the Yankees came in for the 9th and struck out the side.

With the exhibition over, players will be returning their teams with the season starting again on Friday. Front offices are busy with the trade deadline 3 weeks away.
