My view on Belgrade vs Manchester United.

This would be the first Manchester United’s Europa League game I would be watching this season; I am glad the team held on to the 3 points. The lineup looked like this:

Romero; Wan Bissaka, Jones, Maguire, Rojo; Williams, McTominay, Garner; Mata, Martial, Lingard.

It seems Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to start playing 3 defenders at the back, given the low quality of the midfield it makes sense to me a bit. There were a lot of back passes, seems the attackers have not perfected the act picking themselves out in tight spaces.

Williams was impressive today, he won the penalty which Martial coolly scored. Although I have wondered how the team would score from open play, the first half showed nothing of such save for Lingard’s attempt that hit the woodwork. Garner kept things simple, I like his pattern of play. The youngsters impressed, it was a good outing for them.

There was no leader on the pitch, it is obvious the team is in dire need of a creative midfielder and a proper target man playing striker. I had hoped the team would get 3 points and also score more than a goal, the 3 points is needed the team can try scoring more than once in the next game.

The match was fair but to be candid, I can’t watch the match over again.
