Aston Villa continue to strengthen the squad and have today unveiled their latest acquisition. They have made a deal with Chelsea regarding Ross Barkley, who will send the midfielder to Aston Villa until next summer.

It is again Johan Lange who has been in contact. The Danish has, among other things, also brought Ollie Watkins from Brentford and Emiliano Martinez to the club, but it is especially the Barkley agreement that has created enthusiasm in the club's coach, Dean Smith.

"Picking up a player with Ross' qualities is a real scoop for our club, and I'm sure he's going to thrive here and improve our team," said Dean Smith.

26-year-old Ross Barkley has been at Chelsea since January 2018, making a total of 86 appearances for the London club. Last season, he featured in just 21 Premier League games, and Barkley has also only had 40 minutes at the start of this season. It therefore looks like a good deal for Ross Barkley, who can now get playing time at Aston Villa.
