Fabian Delph is the latest name on Everton's list of injured players who are doubtful of the Merseyside derby against Liverpool when the Premier League returns, local newspaper Liverpool Echo reports today. Delph suffered a muscle injury, which he hopes will heal before the game next week.
It is certain that manager Carlo Ancelotti will have to miss Theo Walcott, who is out for four weeks, Yerry Mina who is expected to return at the end of the month after surgery, and last but not least Jean-Philippe Gbamin is out with a damage to the Achilles tendon.
While the three are definitely out, Portuguese Andre Gomes is also suffering an injury. It is still too early to say if he can get ready for the local brew. With five potential starters out, it could be difficult for Everton to stop the well-oiled Liverpool machine storming to a championship.
The first meeting between the two clubs this season ended with a 5-2 win for Liverpool ahead of an enthusiastic home crowd at Anfield.
