French Allan Saint-Maximin, together with Newcastle, has had a good start to the season, where the club has managed to secure 7 points in 4 matches. The winger has shown such good pace that the club now, only one year after bringing him to the club, will extend the contract with the Frenchman.

Saint-Maximin otherwise signed a six-year contract with Newcastle when in recent years the club picked him up from Ligue 1 club OGC Nice. But now the club wants to make sure that he does not slip away just yet, by giving him one more year in the contract, so it now runs until 2022, and increases his salary.

Saint-Maximin was last season the player who managed with the third most dribbles in the Premier League surpassed only by Adama Traore and Wilfried Zaha. His significance for the club is quite clear. Newcastle have won 46.2% of the 26 matches the Frenchman has started inside, whereas they only have 6.2% of the 16 matches where he has not started inside.
