After Matchday 5, Nasarawa United became the only team left with an unbeaten run to defend as both Kano Pillars and Dakkada saw theirs ended by Enyimba and Lobi Stars respectively.

The Elephants took Pillars by storm in the first half, scoring 2 goals in the 21st and 38th minute respectively. However, they had to avoid a late scare when Pillar got a goal back in the 86th minute. What an amazing way to bounce off their 2 nil loss to Heartland lasf week you want to say.

Unlike Pillars who were 2 nil down before getting a consolation goal, Dakkada Fc were very much unlucky against Lobi Stars as they conceded a 90th minute penalty that saw their unbeaten run shattered. They had already managed to cancel out Lobi's 15th minute goal by getting a goal of theirs in the 70th minute, but good fortune seems not to be on their side this time around as they conceded a late penalty. What a painful way to see your unbeaten run cut short.

TOP 4 TEAMS:

Rivers United maintain their hold on first position with 12 points after they bounced off their last week's defeat to Wikki Tourists with an emphatic 3-1 win over Heartland of Owerri. They are closely followed by the only unbeaten team in the NPFL, Nasarawa United, who are on 11 points after they earned a slim 1 nil victory over Katsina United.

Lobi and Enugu Rangers complete the top 4 with an equal 10 points after the former got a 2-1 win over Dakkada Fc, and the latter played a 1 all draw against MFM. However, Lobi Stars occupy 3rd position thanks to a superior goal difference.

BOTTOM 3

Heartland or Owerri slipped to 18th position with 3 points after their 3-1 loss to League leaders, Rivers United whilst Adamawa United and Abia Warriors complete the remaining 2 positions with 2 points and 1 point respectively although, unlike the former who lost 3 nil to Plateau United, Abia United were able to secure their first point of the season after they played a 1 all draw against 17th placed Ifeanyi Ubah Fc.

Matchday 6 is set to take place on January 24th, 2021, however, teams with outstanding games will have their games played before that day. Below are the fixtures and date:

  1. Akwa United vs Wikki Tourist: Today by 4pm Nigerian time.
  2. Kwara United vs Enyimba: January 20th by 4pm.
