Africa Cup Of Nations(AFCON) 2019: Tunisia Vs Nigeria(Third Place Game)
The Africa Cup of Nations Tournament(AFCON) 2019 is coming to an end on Friday, but before that, we have a battle for third place tomorrow Wednesday.
It has been an exciting tournament where we saw a lot of shocks and even resignations hehehe.
The was the incident of the Egyptian FA chief resigning after Egypt were knocked out by South Africa.
Another big highlight of the tournament to me was Madagascar who were debutants reaching the quarter-finals of this tournament!!
I will summarize all that happened in the tournament in the next days.
A big congratulations to Madagascar for exhibiting great football and we hope we see more teams doing the same in the next edition of AFCON.
I will talk about the third-place match which will be played tomorrow where we have Nigeria tussling it out with Tunisia.

Third Place Play-off: Tunisia Vs Nigeria
This going to be a great match too since each team want to take something home.
I know all players wanted to be in the final, but failed. They have an opportunity though to win the bronze medal here.
Nigeria player Alex Iwobi who is also an Arsenal player is optimistic of wining this game tomorrow as seen on Goal.com website
“Yes, we didn’t reach the final, but playing for third place is also great.
“I believe that I delivered a great performance and it’s not over yet.
It has to be remembered that both these teams lost painfully their quarter final games!!
We saw Tunisia gift Senegal the lead through an own goal!! We also saw Nigeria give the lead to Algeria with an own goal and then had their hopes killed in the last seconds of the game with that Mahrez free-kick.
These two teams have interesting head to head statistics, whereby all they have settled for draws in the last 3 times they played againsteach other.
The most recent was in the African Nations Championship in 2016 where the game ended 1:1 in their group C game.
The other two games took place in a World Cup Qualifier in Jun 2009 that ended in 0:0 and the other game in September 2009 ended in 2:2!!
In all the games Nigeria has played Tunisia from competitions and tournaments from way back in 1961, Nigeria has won 5, drawn 6 and lost 6!!
Tunisia Record To Third Place Game
Tunisia was in group E where they earned one point from each of the games from Angola, Mauritania and Burundi.
They edged through the round of 16 by beating Ghana on penalties and they also brought the journey of debutant Madagascar to and end in the quarter finals.
They then lost to Senegal through an own goal in the semi finals.
Let us wait and see what happens tomorrow against Nigeria.
Nigeria Record To Third Place Game
Nigeria was in group B where they came second with 6 points one behind Madagascar who shocked the world by beating them(Nigeria) on the last day of match-day 3.
Nigeria beat the defending champions Cameroon in the round of 16 to qualify for the quarterfinals. They also eased through to the semi finals by beating South Africa by 2 goals to 1.
Nigeria were knocked out of the tournament by the on form team Algeria through a last minute free-kick by Riyad Mahrez.
We are now waiting for tomorrow's game and see if Igahlo can score another goal so that he can win the golden boot award.
Let us wait and see who take the bronze tomorrow.
The game will be played at 22:00 EAT in Al-Salam Stadium Cairo.
