I remember when he was a prolific striker, but he spent most of his time coming from the bench.

He was dangerous substitute for Manchester United and we loved him for that!!

Diego Forlan moved to Manchester United from Argentine side Independiente for £6.9million in January 2002, he scored 17 goals in 98 appearances.

He didn't have a great time at United, but was able to win the Premier League in 2002/03 and the FA Cup in 2003/04.

He later moved to Spain where in his first season with Villarreal, Forlán scored 25 league goals and won the Pichichi Trophy.

He really had a great time in that yellow jersey and some of us Manchester United fans were regretting why we sold him!!

Diego Forlan really had a great time in Spain whereby he joined Atletico Madrid and become became the league's top scorer, and won again the Pichichi Trophy.

He also had a great career in Uraguay whereby he is considered among the country's greatest players.

He scored 36 times for his country since his 2002 debut to his retirement on 11 March 2015, including one at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

He was also the joint top scorer by scoring five times as Uruguay came fourth at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, being recognised with the Golden Ball award for the best player at the tournament.

Diego Forlan also helped Uraguay win the 2011 Copa América in Argentina.

He was Uraguay all time top scorer until Suarez broke it two years after Forlan retired!!

You can check out more info about him from his Wikipedia page.

We all wish him a great time during his retirement.
