Arsenal fell to a defeat at home yesterday in the final match of the 2019 Edition of the Emirates Cup.

Unai Emery made just 2 changes to the side that was defeated by Real Madrid in their last game. Aubameyamg started in place of Nkethia while Mesut Ozil expectedly was named on the bench following the attack incident that happened to him during the week.

The game started pretty well for Arsenal as they were in charge of possession in the early stages of the match. But just a few minutes into the game, Arsenal had a stroke of bad luck as Lacazette was forced out of the game after he couldn't recover from an ankle injury he sustained even after receiving treatment on the pitch. He was replaced with Nelson and the game continued.

Luck later smiled on Arsenal as they got their deserved lead in the 35th minute through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang which he scored by tapping in a cross from Mkhitaryan.

The half-time ended with Arsenal leading with 1 goal to nil. Second half started and Lyon made 2 quick changes as Yanga-Mbiwa and Marcal made way for Andersen and Rafael.

And just in the 66th minute, Mousa Dembele scored the equalizing goal for Lyon via a beautiful header from Depay's cross.

Arsenal once again had their hopes high as it appeared they have regained the lead when the summer signing Gabriel Martinelli bundled the ball to the opponent's net, but the joy was short lived as the goal was adjudged to be scored from an offside position leading to the goal's cancellation.

Lyon soon took the lead as Mousa Dembele once again calmly slotted home the ball past Goalkeeper Bernd Leno to bury the game with 15 minutes left to go.

The Gunners spirited efforts to get an equalizer proved abortive as the game ended 1-2 in Lyon's favour.

This is the first defeat for Unai Emery's men in their pre-season games so far. They have defeated Colorado Rapids, Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and played a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid which they only later lost on penalty shootout.

They next take on Angers on Wednesday as their pre-season journey continues.
