> Luque, Paraguay - August 3, 2019. Following some questions and misinformation regarding the scheduling of club competitions, the South American Football Confederation -CONMEBOL- clarifies the opinion that:

The CONMEBOL competition calendar was approved by the CONMEBOL Council, represented by its 10 Member Associations, and published in October 2018 in order to give clarity and predictability to all stakeholders prior to the start of the competitions .

Additionally, the dates of the competition calendar were socialized with the Directors of Competitions of the 10 Member Associations on May 27, 2019 at a meeting held in Buenos Aires prior to the start of the Second Phase of club competitions.

Likewise, the calendar dates were directly socialized with the participating clubs of each competition on two occasions: (i) on May 13, 2019 during the meeting held on the day of the Eighth Final Draw of the CONMEBOL Libertadores; and (ii), on July 11, 2019 during the meeting of the Subcommittee of Clubs, an organ that is made up of the presidents of the 16 clubs classified to the Eighth Finals.

Since 2017, all CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana matches are played on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and it is public and predictable knowledge for participating clubs that may have to play in any of those three ( 3 days.

Since the publication of the 2019 competition calendar, CONMEBOL has not received any request or considered to reschedule matches, since the prior scheduling policy adopted since 2016 is based on the principle of Clear Rules, a fundamental pillar to promote transparency and fair play, and leaving behind the old undue intervention practices that have done so much damage to South American football.
