After finishing fifth in the 2019 Street League Skateboarding World Tour, Cebuana skateboarder Margielyn Didal has made her way to the qualifying rankings for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

“Margie is now fifth in the world. With that result, most likely not already in the top 12 of the qualifying for the Olympics, ”said country skateboarding head Monty Mendigoria.

The 2018 Asian Games gold medalist tied 21.7 points in Los Angeles, California, one of the legs of the world tour where she scored the highest achievement on a Pinoy global stage.

Didal will be participating in three world championship events and will need to be in the top 16 by May 2020 to qualify for the Tokyo Games.

Mendigoria the president of the Skateboarding and Roller Sports Association of the Philippines, said Didal should maintain the current ranking when the world tour hits Mexico in November.

After Mexico, another two legs will be the native of Barangay Lahug, Cebu City to compete with and possibly one of them in Japan.

Rayssa Leal dominated the Los Angeles tour when Brazilian 11-year-old averaged 23.3 points while Brazilian Pamela Rose followed with 22.8. American Alana Smith finished third with 22.5 points.
