The NCAA will donate P100,000 to victims of the Batanes quake

Participating schools officials from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) have agreed to also provide assistance to victims of a subsequent earthquake in Itbayat, Batanes.

According to NCAA Management Committee chairman Peter Cayco, they are set to turn over P100,000 cash donation to Batanes Gov. Marilou Cayco on Saturday, in conjunction with the Letran Knights and San Beda Red Lions.

At the previous Mancom meeting, Letran Mancom representative Fr. Vic Calvo extends assistance to earthquake victims.

According to Cayco, the donation is part of their advocacy that helped fellow the country's oldest collegiate sports tournament.

According to the last report, nine were killed while nearly 3,000 individuals were affected by the quake in Itbayat town in July.

"What we are doing is part of the NCAA advocacy, and the oldest collegiate tournament in the country, as an institution, has helped our fellow Filipinos in need, especially those affected by calamities," said Cayco.

Aside from Letran and San Beda, NCAA member schools include Arellano University, College of St. Benilde, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Lyceum University of the Philippines, Mapua University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos and University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.
