Brazilian footballer Filipe Luís signed a contract with Flamengo today until December 31, 2021, becoming the fourth reinforcement of the team coached by Portuguese Jorge Jesus, after Rafinha, Gerson and Pablo Mari.

The 33-year-old left-back returns to Brazil after 14 years playing in Europe and the official announcement of the signing was welcomed by Flamengo on the official website, where he welcomes him and wishes him much success with the 'sacred cloak'.

Born in Jaraguá do Sul, State of Santa Catarina, and revealed by Figueirense in 2003, where he excelled, Filipe Luís eventually moved to Ajax, from the Netherlands, and later donned the Spanish shirt of Deportivo, having been elected the best left back of the Spanish League in the 2008/09 season.

His performance at A Coruña led Atletico Madrid to sign him in July 2010 for five seasons, during which he had a short spell at Chelsea, England, before returning to the 'colchonero' club where he remained until June 2019.

For the Brazilian team, Filipe Luís played in the 2018 World Cup and was champion of the last edition of the Copa America, played this year.

The left-back will land in Rio de Janeiro in the next few days to join the 'red-black' squad and be in charge of Jorge Jesus, at a time when Flamengo is competing for the Brazilian championship and the Libertadores Cup, after having been eliminated in the quarterfinal of the Brazilian Cup by Atlético Paranaense.
