Tuning the 30 caliber FX Impact PCP air rifle at 50 Yards

While waiting on the large external power plenum for my .30 caliber FX Impact MK1 PCP Air Rifle (from Vlad, check his videos), I decided to do some tuning. This way I can compare before and after power and accuracy with some hard data.

I started off with a some fairly good settings that I've already been using. I went out to 50 yards. Then I took 5-shot strings at different power settings, Max, 5, A, 4, etc. both for accuracy and on chrono. Love the LabRadar for this. I then took 10-shot strings of the top three settings, then you'll see the top two on the last target.

I couldn't believe that one of the 5-shot groups had only .48 fps standard deviation, and 1.09 fps Extreme Spread. The 10-shot string I shot the final group with had 2.98 fps standard deviation and 8.58 fps Extreme Spread.

My final ended up being reg at just under 150 bar, shooting 50.15 grain JSB Pellets at 850 fps that ends up being right about 80fpe. The final group at 50 yards ended up being 14 shots into a single hole just under an inch (.9 inch). I'm happy with it considering in Colorado it always seems to be windy. Today not too bad only 5-10mph.

I am really excited for this larger plenum so I can try to get this over 100 fpe.

Thanks. It was good to get out of my head for a bit and just be able to focus on the task at hand. Keep the spirits up, we should be seeing the downtrend start within another couple weeks.

Yeah, I'm hoping so. It's all a little out of control at the moment but it'll get better at some stage. I haven't shot guns for a little while so that' snot helping...Need my pew-time!
