Juventus announced the signing of De Ligt from Ajax. It had been a battle between PSG and Juventus on who would seal the deal but Juventus were able to win him over. £67.8m it was, the most that have been coughed up for a defender in Italy. Expectations? Pressure? Definitely.

He certainly never envisaged a disastrous start to his career at Juventus when he put on the Turin club shirt to mark his debut in a match against Inter Milan. Pre season games are meant to prepare clubs for the upcoming season so there's not much to it but nevertheless, football is still football.

All was well until a corner and the match was still fairly in balance until a corner from Stefano Sensi upset Juventus' defense. De Ligt stuck his leg out in an attempt at clearance and boom, a dent on his career at Juventus. He scored his first goal at Juventus but against them, how horrible could that be on his debut?

Thanks to record signing, Cristiano Ronaldo who levelled the play and pushed the game off to extra time. The penalty shoot-out came though and Juventus won 4-3. It could have gone either way.

However, this match is not enough to judge the abilities of the 19-year-old as it's just A match. But it does make an impression nonetheless. Maybe they'd be having second thoughts by now, maybe not. It has happened and mistakes do happen, it should slide. Disastrous start by the way.
