Premier League clubs spent an astonishing amount in the transfer window.

At the closure of the Transfer window on Thursday, Premier League clubs had spent £1.41bn on players slightly shorter than the £1.43bn record set in 2017. And considering that Chelsea had been banned from transfers, the amount would definitely have beaten the 2017 record.

This is the 4th year in a row that spending has surpassed £1bn, showing the massive amount of wealth in Premier League.

Every club was active in the market with more than half of the clubs breaking their transfer records. Imagine Aston Villa which got promoted from championship spending more than £100m. Teams know investing is the way to go, whether it's winning the title or getting into the champions league spots or staying in the premier league.

There was a rise in the value of broadcasting rights last season due to the broadcasting growth overseas. This set record revenues for clubs where teams got more money than ever which to a large extent describes the high spending.
