Leicester City Vs Chelsea Match Preview and Prediction

The English league will return this week as Leicester City will be at home to host Chelsea in a game that will have much effects on the top 4 race, currently the Foxes are third on the log table and the Blues will be looking forward to reduce the gap to 5 points. Leicester City performance has dropped recently and with another disappointing outcome in the EFL cup, they will be hoping to overturn the defeat of not making the EFL cup final. All these together will make the match an interesting one to watch, both teams shared the points the last time they met at Stamford Bridge and once again, it is going yo be an open game between both sides. Both Leicester forward Vardy and Chelsea Tammy Abraham will be missing out due to injuries and both teams will be looking up to fresh legs in the line up, most especially, Chelsea will have no choice than to introduce Batshuayi in the game while Rodgers will hope Kelechi continues to impress in Vardy absence.

Leicester City

The Foxes after missing the chance to play at Wembley in the EFL cup will want to avoid another defeat when the welcome Chelsea to the King's Power stadium. Rodgers and Kelechi seems to be on the same page now as the Nigeria forward continues to get his chances right due to injury sustained by Vardy, he has scored and assist in the last three games he appeared for the club and will be hoping lead the team again when they take on the Blues but the choice is left to the manager who may switch to Vardy who is just coming from injury. In terms of team selection, Leicester manager may face some difficulties in whom to select in the line up with Perez, Barnes, Tielemans, Maddison and Praet all in contention for the game.

Chelsea

Although the Blues are now in the next round of the FA cup competition but their recent performance in the league is not really a good one, their last two games against Newcastle United and Arsenal has ended in a disappointing draw with the Blues failing to hold their opponents in the last 10 minutes. The race for the top 4 is now getting serious and looking at their next 3 features, they need to be very careful if at all they will still occupy that spot or move ahead of the Foxes. The Blues are playing good football this season, winning the possession against their opponents but the job has only be on Abraham alone up front and this we can see in the number of goals he has scored so far. Hudson Odoi may also make his way into the line up again together with Willian but the Blues problem recently has been from the defense and if they still want to retail the number four spot, they need to work on their defense and again, they club need to bring in prolific striker to boost the attack.

Possible Line Up

  • Leicester City
Schmeichel, Pereira, Evans, Soyuncu, Chilwell, Praet, Ndidi, Tielemans, Perez, Maddison, Vardy

  • Chelsea
Arrizabalaga, James, Zouma, Tomori, Azpilicueta, Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Batshuayi, Hudson-Odoi

Prediction

It will be hard to give it to any of the team in terms of securing the maximum points but despite that, it is still a game where one team will bag all the points. In terms of possession, the Blues will always be ahead but their problem of keeping a clean sheet is another thing that may cost them tomorrow as the Foxes are very dangerous up front. In terms of goals, there may not be too many goals in the game but both team will definitely score each other.

My Tip

Leicester 1 vs 2 Chelsea

Chelsea usually step up in big games, particularly away from home snd considering how Leicester haven't been good lately, I expect a tough game. I'm going for a 2-2 draw.
